Due to an old and outdated law still in place in the Netherlands, the use of the term “gehakt” (EN: minced) was made prohibited for use in relation to vegetarian product names.

We took to the streets together with Dutch presenter Charlotte Sun to ask people what they thought of this and if any of the alternative names we came up with are still able to convey the same idea that “gehakt” does.

Spoiler alert: it didn’t! In the Dutch language, there isn’t really a better way to label these foods.

These videos went all over socials to promote the public to sign a petition to overturn this law and keep the original product name in place.
